The 'Give A Ghaf' planting program, an initiative by Goumbook, is a seed and tree planting program launched 13 years ago that raises awareness about the local environment, water scarcity, indigenous plants and trees.
We concentrate on the Ghaf tree because it is the best symbol of the harsh desert climate interwoven with the history and culture of this new country, being the national tree of the UAE. Through the activities, we aim to foster a deeper connection to the local environment and celebrate the unique cultural heritage of the UAE.

Ghaf Seed Planting Activity:
Experience a fun and interactive journey through the world of Ghaf trees! This immersive activity invites participants to connect with nature and the rich heritage of the UAE.
Here's what's in store: Get your hands dirty and learn how to plant a Ghaf seed from scratch. Each participant gets their own pot, fills it with soil and then plants a Ghaf tree seed. After the planting session, we take care of the pots at our nursery. We nurture those seeds into sturdy saplings ready to thrive in new environments.
This activity is more than just planting seeds. It's a hands-on exploration of Ghaf tree culture and eco-awareness to discover the traditions, cultural significance, and the vital role Ghaf trees play in our environment.
Suitable for 5+ free drop-in sessions, 12pm – 4pm. Available on Saturday 11th of November only.
