Caped Coast is a brand focused on sustainability and sharing the stories of West Africa.
Each cape or kimono is a unique design, one size, unisex and designed to be versatile for suitability to different occasions party or beach.
Cape Coast Castle was built in 1653 by Swedes, then controlled by the Danes, Portugese, French and the English. The Castle then became the place the slaves were taken out of Africa into other parts of the world. It is now a museum and a point of pilgrimage to African Americans who visit to connect with their history.
The Castle still exists in perfect form but over the last few years is threatened by erosion and environmental damage.
Cape Coast, the historic city in Ghana has now lost 40% of its beaches, also losing the history of the world as these castles are washed away into the sea.
