The CEO of Swiss watch brand Rado, Matthias Breschan, announced the first edition of the Rado Star Prize UAE, during Dubai Design Week's latest edition.
The partnership aims at offering the next generation of design talent a unique opportunity to launch their career on the international stage.
The Rado Star Prize is an established competition held annually in various countries around the world, supporting young, unestablished designers and giving them a platform to present their work. Rado aims to attract projects and ideas from numerous design disciplines in order to create projects that can benefit the lives of individuals or communities both now and in the future.
For its first year, the Rado Star Prize UAE will focus on the idea of design as something enduring, long-lasting and versatile, demonstrating permanence over obsolescence and designs that will prove their timeless appeal.
Five finalists will be selected by a panel of design industry professionals and show during Dubai Design Week 2019. The winner will receive AED 20,000 in prize money and a Rado watch. An additional public winner will be chosen by visitors to the exhibition and will receive a Rado watch.
The deadline for entries to the Rado Star Prize UAE is 15 September 2019.
