Great news for the UAE’s design community: Dubai will shortly be home to the world’s largest materials reference library.
D-Town Library will be an essential resource for all design disciplines, displaying thousands of materials' samples to cater to all types of innovative and creative minds: whether an architect looking for varieties of wood for a project; a fashion designer searching for the latest trends in smart fabrics; or from any design discipline on the scout for a particular material.
Dubai Design Week encourages the exploration of materials and their application. For the 2015 edition, LOCI architecture+design
worked with UAE’s most abundant natural material, sand, in its design of the Abwab pavilions. The results of the pioneering technique led to LOCI architecture+design being nominated for a Middle East Architect Award 2015 (DesignMENA).
