As the local and international design enthusiasts and professionals ready to converge on Dubai for its inaugural design festival, an instantly memorable identity for Dubai Design Week has been revealed.
The event’s graphic logo is one of duality, reflecting not only the city’s iconic acronym but also Dubai’s position as an international and regional hub for design and ideas - design across borders.
Created by Bond, an Abu Dhabi-Helsinki based creative agency and a team led by one of Bond’s founding partners Jesper Bange, the identity is international in outlook, collaborative and modern.
Jesper said: “Dubai being a meeting point for people and Dubai Design Week showcasing design from all around the world was the inspiration for our design. We wanted to illustrate this by creating a logo with the letters DXB. The letters not only mean Dubai but also stand for design across borders.”
Managing Director of Bond’s Abu Dhabi office, Majed Ateeq Jakka, also commented: "Bond Abu Dhabi was founded with a vision to combine international design with local insight. We created the Dubai Design Week brand to reflect this vision, and by assembling a multi-diverse team of designers and strategists from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Finland, and the United Kingdom, we were able to create a brand that was fit for a global design week."
Dubai Design Week will take place from 26 – 31 October, 2015. The design showcase not only establishes the city as the regional capital for design but also as a global meeting point for the international design community. Design-dedicated events, activities and projects across the city will celebrate the best in design both regionally and internationally.
