The outdoor furniture collection was originally developed in 2008 as a direct commentary on Dubai’s strategic construction plan and post-industrial times, and is made from two basic materials widely found around Dubai: rebars and concrete.

Dubai Syndrome’ takes concrete out of its building context and puts it back in an uncompromising manner in a form of an outdoor furniture line: “it celebrates a material that is made to be masked. Unlike Dubai’s ostentatious skyline, ‘Dubai Syndrome’ forms the core of a structure but remains bare and simple to contrast with its environment. It is a stark yet poetic view of construction that is almost made to outlive the city’s dwellers,” said Fadi of eponymous design studio based in d3.

To conform with d3’s mission to promote and nurture local talent, ‘Dubai Syndrome’ can be used as a platform to incorporate two different art disciplines where local and international street artists can be invited to leave their mark by using the language of graffiti speaking to d3’s diverse community.

Dubai Design Week is held in partnership with d3; news of Fadi Sarieddine Design Studio’s plans for Dubai Design Week 2016 will be shared in the coming months.
