Swarovski debuts at Dubai Design Week 2016 with a mesmerizing specially commissioned outdoor installation by Zeinab Al Hashemi, an Emirati designer with a keen eye for thrilling aesthetics.

Positioned within Dubai’s Design District (d3), ‘Hexalite’ will be an interactive installation comprised of 1,145 Swarovski crystals and 33 hexagonal mirrored-steel structures.

The essence of Swarovski’s ‘Hexalite’ installation is captured through the geometric repetition created through the reflection of the 33 Swarovski crystal structures, coated for a certain effect, in order to form an expansive kaleidoscopic mirage. ‘Hexalite’ aims to mesmerize design week visitors and challenge them to interact with the surrounding environment through the installation’s various changes in perspective and color.

‘Hexalite’ marks a new chapter in Swarovski’s growing support for art and design in the UAE while simultaneously highlighting the vast talent within the region. Dubai-based Zeinab specializes in site-specific installations, spatial art and modern public sculpture. Inspired by the traditions of her Emirati culture and local artisans, she creates intriguing, interactive works that experiment with new materials and techniques. Much like Swarovski, Zeinab’s work unites craftsmanship with innovation, making her a natural choice for collaboration.

Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Board of Executive Board and prominent leader from the design to art world commented, “We are extremely pleased to collaborate with Zeinab on her stunning ‘Hexalite’ installation. This playful kaleidoscopic piece is the perfect way to celebrate our debut at Dubai Design Week.”

Along with ‘Hexalite’, Swarovski simultaneously appears at Downtown Design with its inaugural collection of Atelier Swarovski Home, presenting various tabletop accessories designed by renowned designers such as Aldo Bakker, Fredrikson Stallard, and the iconic Zaha Hadid.
