A full house sat in to attend the 'Ideas for the open city: An exploration of connectivity within a city' panel discussion hosted by The Royal Institute of British Architects, The British Council, and the Department of International Trade.
The panel discussion that took place yesterday evening explored the theme of Connectivity Mobility and Opportunity as adopted for Expo 2020 and Dubai's ambition to be one of the world's most disable-friendly cities by 2020. The themes of Expo 2020 were discussed with a focus on The open City exhibition, showcasing the value of collaboration.
Key panelists contributed to the discussion, exploring the themes importance to the public realm in the gulf cities, including Sultan Al Qassemi, columnist and co-founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation; Alex Scott Whitby, from ScottWhitbyStudio; Sumaya Dabagh, Dabagh Architects and RIBA Gulf Chapter Chair; and Waseem Kotoub, Head of Arts and Creativity, British Council, Qatar. The panel was moderated by Alastair Donald, British Council's Architecture Programme.
The exhibition will continue during Dubai Design Week, at 10am to 9pm everyday, 9am-9pm on Friday, and 9am-7pm Saturday.
