Submissions now open for the Audi Innovation Award 2018, with this year’s theme: Connections

In partnership with Audi Middle East, Dubai Design Week invites designers living in the Middle East to submit their entries to the third edition of the Audi Innovation Award to be considered for once in a lifetime prize opportunity composed of mentoring, publicity and investment in the winning concept, as well as a trip to visit the Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany.

The Audi Innovation Award, led by Audi Middle East in partnership with Dubai Design Week, aims to empower regional designers while archiving intellectual progress in the region. The competition roots its themes in Audi’s brand values and vision for the future, this year’s theme concerns itself with the development of smart cities and connectivity that helps to anticipate the needs of drivers. ‘Connectivity’ has been announced as the theme for the third Audi Innovation Award.

Designers based in the Middle East are invited to innovatively rethink the methods by which two entities comes together or by redesigning the individual parts that connect to improve or enhance our daily lives.

The three finalists will selected by a notable panel of 10 judges after the September deadline, each finalist will be offered $2,500 to present their proposals in the Audi space throughout Dubai Design Week 12-17 November, 2018 during which the winner will be announced, and Audi Middle East will award $25,000 worth of consultancy to the winning proposal; covering items such as IP registration, legal counselling, design and business development. The winning candidate will also recieve a trophy and a trip to the Audi factory in Ingolstadt, Germany to experience the automotive design journey at the company’s headquarters.

With his winning project ‘EZ Move’ announced last November during Dubai Design Week 2017, Jamal Alsharkas interpreted the theme of ‘Autonomy’ through designing EZ Move; an upright walking device that provides unprecedented mobility to the elderly and visually impaired, with the intention to empower these users with freedom of movement.
