Tashkeel is a contemporary art organisation based in Dubai committed to facilitating art and design practice, creative experimentation and cross-cultural dialogue.

As part of its long-term commitment to supporting locally-based designers, Tashkeel annually selects designers from an open call for the Tanween programme. The programme supports designers to develop a range of products that work towards defining a production process, design and aesthetic that responds to the Emirates. Limited edition products by the participating designers are available under Tashkeel’s product label, Tanween.

During Dubai Design Week 2016, Tashkeel exhibited a selection of products by the alumni of its design programme, Tanween. In addition to products made previously for Tanween, a number of the designers were also been commissioned to make new, limited edition works for this exhibition: Rand Abdul Jabbar, Studio MUJU (Jumana Taha and Mentalla Said) and Zuleika Penniman, Latifa Saeed and Talin Hazbar.
