In celebration of the inaugural Dubai Design Week, the Canadian University Dubai launches Urbanic, a competition for public space, which is open to all university students.
Students are asked to create a space or an object to encourage the use of outdoor space in an urban context. The ideas could encompass something that provides shelter, something that is portable and opens into the public realm or it could be a place to contemplate and view a perspective of the city.
Students are asked to submit their designs as a 1 x A2 poster, plus a 1:5 scale model. The deadline for entries is 15th October and the works will be displayed at Canadian University throughout Dubai Design Week.
Urbanic’s winners will be announced on 29th October. Finalists will be selected by an industry panel and will be invited to attend a ‘Portfolio Enhancement Workshop’ at the university. The winning entry will be invited for an internship at the renowned architecture and interior design firm, Design Work Portfolio.
