Design research and innovation collective DRAK reinforces its vision for Ras Al Khor to become one of the city’s creative districts with Celebrating Wood, with 4 projects devoted to interactive design, textile design, film and graphic design plus a series of pop-up culinary experiences.
Social enterprise meets quirky craftsmanship at Kalid Shafar’s KASA showcase space from 4-9pm every day during Design Week. His Button Up Collection features rugs woven by Afghan women which can be joined together to form a single piece.
Head to the Tashkeel Gallery in nearby Nad Al Sheba which hosts workshops and studios for locally-based designers. Limited edition furniture and lighting by Amer Aldour, Zuleika Penniman, Studio MUJU, Latifa Saeed, Talin Hazbar and Rand Abdul Jabbar from the Tanween Design Programme will be exhibited and on sale. If you don’t have time during Design Week, the exhibition continues into November.
Tashkeel will also host Growth: 3D Printing Inspired by Nature, a workshop by design network d-NAT introducing the potential of new technology to create products from personal data.
