Zaha Hadid present’s the Serac Benches installation at d3, and also welcomes visitors into the Zaha Hadid Architects' gallery during Dubai Design Week.
Take the chance to visit Zaha Hadid Architects' open gallery, during Dubai Design Week. ZHA Office & Gallery continues the practice’s longstanding commitment to the region and hosts a program of exhibitions and collaborations, currently showcasing 3D-printed models, as well as a timeline of ZHA projects, ranging from early paintings and competition entries to ongoing developments. Furniture pieces by ZHD as well as selected home-ware items from the ZH Collection are also on display. The gallery will be open every day, from 9am - 6pm during design week.
In addition to the open studio, don’t miss theSerac Benches installation, designed by Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher for The Italian Lab. The Serac Bench was developed as an urban sculpture for seating and resting that seamlessly integrates with its context. Its striated articulations emerge from the landscape, each layer taking its own unique trajectory in reaction to latent forces that disperse - and ultimately coalesce - the many strata of the bench to generate its overall formal composition. The design rediscovers the fluid, continuous nature of Hadid’s work - exploring relationships between solid and void, object and ground, form and function; an evolutionary lineage that is evident throughout her repertoire.
