Zsanett Szirmay is a master’s student at the Department of Textile Design of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME), whose approach to design is characterised by experimentation and integrative thinking.

Bálint Tárkány-Kovács is a musician and composer. Founder of the Tárkány M?vek (Tárkány Works) band, which takes a folk music approach to jazz. Tárkány M?vek is also involved with music pedagogy, composing, song-writing and record publishing.

Produced by Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME), in collaboration with Hybrid Art Management and shown at Tashkeel, Soundweaving – Middle East Edition is the work of textile designer, Zsanett Szirmay, and composer, Bálint Tárkány-Kovács. It is based on traditional Hungarian embroidery, which holds at its core patterns derived from rugs, created by Afghan artisans, who work with the women’s Fatima Bint Mohammed Initiative (FBMI).
