D-Town Enterprises, who is building the biggest materials library in the world, invites materials consultant Richard Lombard to conduct this exciting workshop on Dematerialisation.
Dematerialisation means reducing the used materials in the making of a product, while ensuring to deliver the same level of the product’s functionality. In this engaging and stimulating workshop, participants will be assigned the task of making their own design pieces limited to the use of two materials maximum, and whoever succeeds will be rewarded!

About Richard Lombard:

Richard Lombard is a materials consultant working with both industry and education. From 2010 to 2016, he was the Curator of the Materials Library at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, as well as an Associate Professor (well, for a couple of weeks) in the MFA.DESIGN program. Prior to that, he was the COO of Material ConneXion in New York, where he developed the company’s educational platform, as well as established and maintained their international locations. Richard has also coordinated and organized design conferences in both NYC and Doha, most recently co-chairing the 2015 Tasmeem Doha Design Festival, “3ajeeb!” at VCUQ.
