From the Hand of Man is a visually lyrical short documentary by Denise Holloway which explores the latest artistic project by traditional Indian craftsmen directed by Mitchell Abdul Karim Crites. The film captures the process of inlaying Arabic carving from lapis then highlighting it with gold-leaf, which when assembled together create inscriptions from the Holy Quran that extend along 2.5 square kilometers of marble.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film director Denise Holloway, the project director Mitchell Abdul Karim Crites and Master Craftsman Ustad Mohammed Irfan - in collaboration with the AUD Visual Cultures Form.
