The AlAreesh Collection is a set of furniture and lighting products inspired by traditional AlAreesh walls that are constructed from dried plain fronds of palm leaves, placed vertically as poles, and linked by the use of ropes to create simple enclosures providing shade from the sun and protection from the wind.

Aljoud Lootah is a multidisciplinary designer based in Dubai, with work exploring the realms of product design and personalised corporate gifts. She composes her creations by mixing traditional silhouettes and concepts with modern elements. Patterns, folds and geometric shapes are at the heart of her inspiration. Her creative drive comes from a passion for detail, aesthetics, and experimental approaches to materials and techniques.

Lootah continuously produces bespoke objects and collectible designs for government organizations and private companies, and has been involved in various retail and residential interior projects. As a product designer, she has been involved in projects that distinctly interpret the Emirati culture, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Two products from her Oru Series (2015) were acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, making her the first Emirati designer to have her work acquired by an international gallery.

The AlAreesh Collection is a set of furniture and lighting products inspired by traditional AlAreesh walls that are constructed from dried plain fronds of palm leaves, placed vertically as poles, and linked by the use of ropes to create simple enclosures providing shade from the sun and protection from the wind. These structures were commonly used in the UAE as summer houses and majlises as the gaps in the walls allowed ventilation within the structures.

The collection is a collaboration with Probas Plating, a German electroplating company. Based in the heart of southern Germany, probas.plating GmbH was founded in 2015 as an expansion of Metallveredelung Proba GmbH, respectively Proba Surface Finishings, founded by Mr. Ernst Proba. With over 50 years of industry experience and in combination with the largest surface plating capabilities in Europe, latest technology and chemical solutions, the probas.plating GmbH team stands paramount to other competitors.

As a result of experience and capabilities, probas.plating GmbH recently took part in the expansion project for the Great Mosque of Mecca, respectively al-Masjid al-Har?m, Islam’s holiest place of worship located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The largest mosque expansion project to date, probas.plating GmbH plated various decorative and structural elements in state of the art gold baths, providing seamless and smooth surface finishings for one of the most important construction projects in Saudi Arabian history.
