Amrish Patel, principal and founder of Apical Reform, had no formal training in the creative field – his only connection with design was his aesthetic sensibilities, and his passion for the arts, innovation and high tech. With his knowledge of the trends in these fields and his vision to bring them together, he founded Apical Reform. His creative passion is fueled by a constant endeavor to combine the highest quality with an innate design sensibility, and knowledge of market dynamics and resource management.

The design of the sculpture is inspired by the innovative spirit of Dubai and its natural landscape. The undulated form of each alphabet is manifested in colors inspired by the UAE flag, and is expressed through multiple layers. These layers are extruded into the third dimension through stringent parametric design formulae, and then composed by hand to represent the ripples on the surface of a sand dune.
Located in the heart of Dubai Design District, the city’s purpose-built creative hub, the installation will interact with its surroundings and will offer photo-ops to tourists, events visitors and city dwellers alike. It will also serve as a landmark for buskers and street performers.
