Ground Floor, Building 7, Dubai Design District (d3)

To look into oneself is a doorway to higher consciousness. A moment of reflection was never more necessary than it is in today’s times.

It was with this intent – to create the mood for reflection and introspection – that the architect and product designer Fari Sarieddine joins forces with the acclaimed jewellery designer and multi-media artist Nadine Kanso for a special collection to mark the third edition of Dubai Design Week.

The natural partnership explores the diverse world of identity through their works. Through her photography and calligraphic jewellery designs, Kanso is credited with re-contextualising the Arab identity for the modern global audience. Sarieddine’s latest collection, Damascus Revisited was critically acclaimed for its sensitive approach to the emotions of generational migration prevalent in the Levantine world.

Khawatir brings together their creative worlds as Sarieddine applies the Calligraphy designs of Kanso to a collection of mirrors and seating.

About Fadi Sarieddine & Nadine Kanso

Nadine Kanso’s career has flourished exponentially since she came on the scene in 2006. She has pushed creative boundaries through her renowned brand, Bil Arabi, and constantly explores new ways to express what it means to be an Arab in today's world, while continuing to find beauty in the Arabic language.

Fadi Sarieddine Design Studio is a multidisciplinary atelier based in Dubai founded in 2013 by Lebanese architect Fadi Sarieddine. Offering architectural and design services with a focus on furniture design, Sarieddine brings his rich architectural experience to his work by coupling form and function, delivering designs that appear alive in their bold lines and movement. His experimental design approach challenges the fundamentals of traditional design by examining the use of unconventional materials. Inspired by transformation and fueled by interrogation, he adopts a kind of playful minimalism that unfolds into something more. His pieces come with a sense of discovery, like books with stories yet to be told.
