Every year, FBMI collaborates with an international female designer to bring a contemporary twist to traditional techniques and empower Afghan women to build up a modern approach to their daily work.

Every year, FBMI collaborates with a contemporary designer to introduce new techniques and empower Afghan women to build up a modern approach to their traditional methodology. In return this becomes a trade of knowledge and craftsmanship. The designer visits the production site in Afghanistan and works alongside the weavers.

This year FBMI has teamed up with internationally renowned Studio Nada Debs to launch its brand new contemporary collection during Dubai Design Week.

About FBMI

The FBMI Initiative provides women with employment in the carpet production process, offering them and their families critical social services in healthcare and education. Benefits are seen not only in fruitful employment, but also in healthier and happier families and communities.

FBMI is commercially viable and sustainable in the long term, as it operates a local value chain entirely within Afghanistan, buying local wool to support farmers, using natural vegetable dyes, and producing finished carpets for export to world markets.
