Designers talk candidly about how they practice design entrepreneurship, their experience in registering their business, and how in5 has helped them to kick start their careers.

The creative economy is constantly expanding, and design has become embedded in every aspect in life. However, designers face many challenges when setting up their own start-ups.
Tammer Qaddumi, founding partner of VentureSouq, moderates this panel discussion in which designers Riyad Joucka, Engy Mahdy and an in5 spokesperson recommend solutions to the challenges young designers face.

Launched by TECOM Group, in5’s three specialised innovation centres are tailored to Tech, Design and Media. Established in 2014, the mandate of the Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) is to raise the profile of Dubai as a regional and global destination for design and fashion. It ensures the contribution of the creative industries to the sustainable development of the Emirate; stimulates trade and tourism; develops local talent; and attracts companies operating in the fields of design and fashion to Dubai.
In 2013, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued Decree No 23 determining the formation of the Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC), a member of the Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA). DDFC oversees, supports, promotes and drives initiatives related to five key design segments - Fashion Design, Product Design, Architecture, Interior Design, and Graphic Design.
