The Khatt Foundation is a centre for Arabic typography advancing design and typography across MENA and the diaspora. Founder Dr. Huda Smitshuijzen Abifarès talks about the impact the Foundation has had and the work of the its design community over the last 10 years.
The Khatt Foundation, Centre for Arabic Typography is a cultural foundation and design research centre dedicated to advancing design and typography in the Middle East, North Africa and their diaspora, and to building cross-cultural creative networks. In this talk it’s Founder Dr. Huda Smitshuijzen Abifarès talks about the impact the foundation has had and examines the works currently on display in RASM at 1971 Design Space, Sharjah by a select group of designers from the Middle East, produced since the launch of the Khatt Foundation’s design community.

Established in Dubai in 2008 by Lateefa bint Maktoum, Tashkeel provides a nurturing environment for art and design practice rooted in the UAE.
