This panel discusses how to enable community-development and how communities can be fortified, it will recognize the elements that contribute to creating a sense of belonging, and to how to re-imagine architectures role as a tool to express local and cultural identity.

Mario Cucinella is responsible for multiple award-winning international design projects. His work is lauded for design excellence and is an undisputed global leader in sustainable practices he has been awarded Honorary Fellowship by the American Institute of Architects and by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) who bestowed upon him their prestigious International Fellowship.

Khaled Alawadi is the first UAE national scholar to specialize in the design of sustainable cities, he founded the MSc. in Sustainable Critical Infrastructure program. He is a trained architect, planner and urban designer whose research is devoted to urban design, housing and urbanism, especially the relationships between the built environment and sustainable development.

Hala Younes is an architect, practicing in France and Lebanon with particular attention to cultural landscape. Her current research focuses on representations of the desert from descriptive classical poetry to architectural discourse.
