A guided tour exploration of food and feasting culture in the Karama neighbourhood, an area of Dubai brimming with community eateries.

Despite modern influences, every culture has a unique way of feasting as a group that has stood the test of time. Compare these formats on a food walk with Frying Pan Adventures through Karama, an Old-Dubai neighbourhood brimming with community eateries catering to their respective diasporas.

On our comparative food walk, we’ll be sampling Indian street food served through a window, ploughing through a Filipino feast derived from a “military mess” and savouring an Ethiopian home-style supper with an unmistakable motherly touch.

As we experience these meals, we'll 'disect' them, trying to understand how differences in table setting, cutlery, and etiquette affect our behaviour, build a unique mood and help connect all who partake of these rituals.
