Dina Hafez x Kulture House
Drawing on her exhibition Unfamiliar Faces on display at Kulture House, Dina Hafez leads an interactive discussion on how design can play a role in cultural heritage preservation.
With the growing influence of the creative economy, culture is used to add value to products, services, and experiences. The "marketisation" of culture and the "culturalisation" of the market mean that culture is becoming increasingly commodified in parallel to a rise in consumer behavior that values the consumption of cultural content. As designers who are guilty -or not- of exploiting culture for economic gain, can we shift this around? Designer Dina Hafez investigates a new proactive approach to culture where design can boost the preservation of cultural heritage.
Opening reception of exhibition Unfamiliar Faces is on Nov 14, 12PM - 3PM. The exhibition will run till 30 November 2019.
