Dubai Culture Creative Lab
A highlight of Dubai Design Week, the Dubai Culture Creative Lab offered a programme of live demos and drop-in activities exploring materials and design processes, each focusing on a specific discipline.
Dubai Culture Creative Lab came to life in the form of seven DIY stations over a five-day programme in Dubai Design District (d3), to spark imagination and develop creative skills among design enthusiast, students and budding designers of all ages. The activities were conducted by UAE-based and regional enterprises and creatives. Skills ranged from design thinking and building to exploring new technologies, upcycling and reviving traditional crafts, along with STEAM education.
Participants of the 2019 programme were 81 Designs, Al Ghadeer UAE Crafts, Ethan&Co, MAS Paints, OliOli, Sharabassy Built-Environment Studio and Touch of Clay.
The programme took place daily, with a focus on families and children on the weekend.

Modernizing and Preserving Tatreez with 81 Designs
A series of interactive Tatreez activities that aim to preserve and modernize the time-honored Palestinian craft. Learn about the history of Tatreez and create simple designs of embroidery.

Join the collaborative activity and work with traditional materials to learn techniques behind creating a large scale Tarboosh and watch live demo's of craftswomen making crafts of Sadu, Khoos and Gazel.
Innovation Inspired by Nature with Ethan&Co x Praxis Education
A unique experience with 3D design and printing that brings awareness to the connection between nature and sustainable design. Print and take home 3D designs inspired by biomicricy.
Turning Little Fingers Green with MAS Paints
Bringing focus on the environment, children are given the opportunity to explore elements of nature and foliage. Children will contribute to a collaborative mural by painting with natural materials or creating their very own stickers.
Upcycle Collective with MAS Paints
Promoting sustainability and recycling, the activity encourages visitors to bring their own items from home and to paint over them using a unique blend of colors. With a little bit of imagination and some paint, transform every day house-hold items to completely new objects

Investigate mathematical and engineering concepts by building monumental sized structures using sticks and bands. The activity is aimed at unleashing creative potential and re-imagining what can be made using simple everyday materials.

Meet the world's simplest robot that creates colourful scribbly drawings. Explore mark-making and learn how to make your very own drawings using a motor and markers.
Interior Design & VR with Sharabassy Built-Environment Studio
The exercise is aimed at covering the very basics of interior design and space. Imagine, visualize, render and manipulate a 3D digital model of a bedroom and step into the design through a virtual reality experience.
