The ARAYA x Zaid Farouki workshop focussed on craftsmanship design in manufacturing jewellery and garments and what makes both fields special and complementary in terms of designs. The workshop looked at hand embroidery and fabric textile, as well as how stone is set into jewellery. The bespoke process of co-designing garment and jewellery pieces was supported by an illustration to conceptualisation process.

It was an immersive experience for participant and visitors who got to learn more about the intricacies of the design process and how they are taken from sketch to reality. The workshop incorporated illustration and craftsmanship techniques and participants got an opportunity to create special pieces of design to take home.

Zaid Farouki

About Zaid Farouki creations are not limited to just being painted but also include wearable sculptures and light installations. Through the embodiment of his vision and the constant pursue of creat- ing wearable sculptures as well, Zaid has managed to create a fabric entirely made out of paint. He also 3D print the crowns seen in my look-book. The crowns are sculptures that can be placed anywhere in the home but can be worn when needed. As the crowns were a play on my middle name “Taji” which literally means "my crown" in Arabic.
