The International Design Exchange is a collaborative project initiated by the Graphic Design Department at the American University in the Emirates (AUE) to stimulate design exchange, develop research, and encourage collaboration with design education institutions in the UAE and USA to promote design excellence and enhance student learning, professional practice and experience.

In its 3rd edition, the International Design Exchange offered design students and professors from Central Washington University (CWU), University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and Syracuse University (SU) New York, Purdue University, Indiana, Suffolk University, Boston and American University in the Emirates (AUE) Dubai, the opportunity to showcase their creative practice across areas including branding, visual communication and interactive design, editorial, packaging, advertising, typography, infographics, and poster design.

The project was curated by Prof. (Assoc.) Dr Arafat Al-Naim, AUE, Prof. David Bieloh, CWU, Prof. Ben Dolezal, UTA and Prof. Rebecca D Kelly, SU, Prof. Keith Kitz, Suffolk University, Prof. Hyungjoo A. Kim, Purdue University and Prof. (Assist.) Wamidh Jamil, AUE.
