'Decade of Design' marks ten years of investment in the UAE design sector by Tashkeel and explores its trajectory.

Since 2011, Tashkeel has been at the forefront of empowering UAE-based design practitioners. It has enabled 31 professional designers to develop their skills, leading to over 40 prototypes and resulting in 24 limited edition, furniture and lighting pieces all inspired by, designed and made in the UAE. The exhibition explores narratives around collaboration, community and experimentation that have led to breakthroughs, innovations and the birth of a definitive contemporary design identity for the UAE.

The use of traditional UAE craft practices within contemporary design, encompassing the UAE environment, society and heritage and reflecting recent innovations around locally sourced organic materials such as camel leather, khoos, coral, stone, sand, flora and fauna, are an inherent and integral part of Decade of Design’s creative design practice.

The exhibition is open to visitors from 2nd November 2021 to 4th January 2022.
