NYUAD - Plastic Recycling Research Lab
Through this workshop, the participants created products out of face masks.
In the months since COVID has erupted, global use of disposable face masks has risen to around 129 billion per month.
These masks were made of multiple plastic fibers, and decomposing them could take more than 500 years, something that few people realize. By using face masks and a compression technique, participants learnt simple ways to make products out of this precious material to help lessen plastic pollution.
