This workshop offered participants an intensive, creative, unique experience in handmade papermaking.

Participants explored how to make their own papers with exciting recyclable materials to break rules and learn how to make artistic papers with care for the environment. They learned the ancient art of paper making using ordinary kitchen blenders, deckles and molds. They began with recycled papers, then proceeded to try different recyclable materials to make their own papers during the session.

About Elham Shafaei

Elham Shafaei, Co-Founder and Co-Editor at Contemporary Identities International Online Art Magazine-Gallery, is an international exhibiting artist, curator and art management. Born in 1983 in Rasht, Iran; she received her B.A Bachelor of Painting (Arts) in Elm o Farhang (Science and Culture) University. In 2010, she moved to Malaysia where she obtained M.A (Fine Arts) in Papermaking and PhD (Fine Arts) in Painting that examined the role of melancholia in creative life. In 2017, she relocated to the United Arab Emirates where she currently resides and pursues her studio practice.
