Massimiliano Giornetti for Polimoda
The workshop focused on creative drapery applied to human body by creating experimental shapes that can be inspiration for the future design development leading the way to an impact on the future of design.
Participants explored ancestral forms, started from a primitive geometric shape such as circles, rectangles, triangles, squares, and reverted the surface and the material, like the conceptual artists of poor art, to create new volumes.
The workshop took inspiration from the philosophy of the American designer Halston who worked by draping with simple geometric shapes of fabric to create his clothes. The simplicity of the shapes from which the drapery starts binds in a positive way with the body of the Mannequin and the fabric that covers it, the results are always interesting even if the creations come from inexperienced hands. At the end of the drapery session, participants visualized a satisfactory result on the mannequin that stimulated them to understand the creative process deeper.
There is no requirement of technical foundations.
Suitable for entry level and for experienced designers wishing to learn positive bind of geometrical shapes to the human body.
