Studio B.O.R by Batool Al-Rushdan
This workshop taught participants how to produce vegan leather from kombucha.
During this workshop, participants learnt how to make their own vegan leather from kombucha. They dried it, shaped it, and later they sewed it to create their own unique designs. Participants took a deep dive into kombucha’s huge potential as a textile and how to optimize it for comfortable wear. Since Fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world, we have to think of alternative ways to improve such an unsustainable industry. Microbial leather is a process of growing material to make clothes that had a low impact on the environment.
