DIY print, grassroots platforms, and zine making were covered in this beginner workshop. After that, participants utilized recommendations to debate "Another Empty House."

For this introductory zine workshop, participants walked through how to create a zine, explored the power of DIY print, and dabbled into avenues of accessible grassroots platforms. Following this, attendees were invited to join a conversation on a research project "Another Empty House", while being guided through a series of prompts. These prompts questioned how we imagine these spaces within our “dream” houses, and what it says about us. The act of dreaming up our houses is an imaginative process rooted in fiction but also in some truth. In this research project participants considered their past and present, unpacked their aspirations, pride and collective trauma.

About Another Empty House:
Another Empty House is a collaborative research based project, exploring and documenting the rise of vacant domestic houses in Kerala. It looks specifically into how media, change in family structures, evolution in matrilineal practices, and gulf migration influenced this rise. Through the spaces humans build and occupy, specifically the empty house, it maps urban networks, exploring transience, power structures, social class, aspirations, gender and space, and the effects of this socioeconomic and political issue.
