G for Gulf.

Iman Maktabi has curated artistically woven carpets and objects to create ‘Terminal G’ in collaboration with Design Curator and Creative Director Samer Yamani. Taking inspiration from the Arabian Gulf, the collection is both designed and commissioned by local creatives. The local brand that commissioned the project is uniquely formed from creatives from five Gulf Countries: Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

To create this collection, local creatives were assigned a technique, a visual reference and a topic to guide their conceptualisation. These topics included travel rituals, local topography, nostalgia, tradition, and the relationship between a city and its inhabitants. Through this, the project aims to present the Gulf region’s culture through a contemporary lens and spark dialogue around prominent topics in the Middle East.
