Gestures and Ruffles are dynamic art installations capturing the essence of natural movement and fluidity with glass and 3D printed clay.

Gestures

Gestures are a series of rhythmic glass and 3D printed clay folds that imitate motion in nature. Inspired by the hydrodynamics and forms of marine animals as they glide and dance underwater, digital simulations of hyperbolic crutches were CNC routed to form the molds of Gestures.

Rhythms of movement and motion are further accented through glass translucencies and textures.

In playful dialogue, 3D printed gestural forms composed of clay dance within the glass composition where light gently nestles and illuminates the fluid pieces.

Gestures are installed in a harmonic composition on the wall using wall inserts that allow the pieces to lock into, complementing the pieces while holding them in space.

Ruffles

Ruffles is a series of miniature kiln-formed glass pieces. Inspired by the flow of marine creatures as they ruffle in movement, the pieces capture motion though their form. The colour palette is an adaptation or a contrast to a seasonal farm produce.

The pieces serve as platters celebrating edible colours and forms that they contain in their centre and extending along their ruffles.

Gestures and Ruffles will be featured at the UAE Designer Exhibition, supported by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture)
