Mirrorigami is an exploration of the captivating art of origami transformed into reflective mirror art installations. The project brings together traditional Persian mirror-works, known as "Aina-Kari," and the intricate craft of hand-folding metal sheets, resulting in contemporary interpretations of timeless designs.
Visitors to the Mirrorigami installation will be greeted with a piece of artwork meticulously crafted from reflective mirror steel, folded in intricate origami patterns. The result is a fascinating, interactive mirror that reflects the viewer in an unexpected and thought-provoking way. As visitors stand before each panel, they find their image intertwined with the artwork, creating a mesmerizing interplay of light, form, and reflection.
The core of Mirrorigami lies in its capacity to invite visitors into a deeper exploration of their reflections, a dialogue between the self and the surrounding cultural environment.
This introspective journey provokes viewers to consider their role within our modern society, and how their presence harmoniously merges with the artwork's essence.
The purpose of this project is to bridge cultures by offering a unique, contemporary interpretation of Persian mirror-works. By engaging viewers in a distinctive dance of reflections, Mirrorigami seeks to facilitate a dialogue between tradition and innovation, individual identity, and societal norms.
Mirrorigami: Dayereh will be featured at the UAE Designer Exhibition, supported by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture)
