Participants explored the possibilities of resin casting and mould making

Individuals had a chance to experience UAE culture and traditional craft techniques with Joseph McKeever. This workshop was tailored for beginners and those students with little or no experience of resin casting and mould making. The session included a hands-on demo where each participant poured water-based resin into a silicone rubber mould. Each piece was de-moulded, and a patina applied at the end of the 3-hour workshop, which the student took home. There was then a live demonstration of how to create a basic silicone rubber block mould, including instruction on removing air bubbles and mould release materials and techniques. Finally, there was a demonstration of how to create tiles from clay using gypsum moulds as used in the pottery and ceramics industry.

Participants left with their newly cast ceramic pieces.
