Explored the connection between "expression" (تعبيــر) and the Arabic language.

S'ila examined the profound connection (صِلة) between «تعبيــر» (expression) and the Arabic language, recognized as the language of «ض» (Dhad). As individuals grew, they came to understand how language shaped their capacity for expression, shaping traditions and embodying cultural significance. In numerous surveys asking, “What does Arabic mean to you?”, respondents consistently described the language as rich and expressive, with its unique structure intricately linked to its expressive power.

Revered as لغــة الضــاد, Arabic was distinguished by its richness, complexity, and cultural legacy that spanned centuries. Its capacity to convey intricate emotions and profound thoughts through diverse vocabulary and unique linguistic structures offered unparalleled expressive capabilities. Each individual’s interaction with the Arabic language was distinct, yet together, these experiences contributed to a shared cultural canvas.

Within the installation, the word «تعبيــر» (expression) was represented visually through recycled wood panels, interconnected by steel rods. These panels stood independently while also being part of a larger collective that connected to a geometric wooden base. This base served as a structural framework, illustrating how individual expressions, rooted in Arabic, coalesced to form a unified whole, highlighting the harmonious convergence of diverse expressions within the Arabic language.

This design concept not only celebrated Arabic as a language but also positioned it as a dynamic medium for cultural expression and continuity. It sought to inspire dialogue and foster understanding, creating a deeper connection among viewers from various cultural backgrounds.
